The 89th Academy Awards ceremony is set to take place this Sunday, and all eyes will be trained on Hollywood’s best and brightest — and, of course, on their fabulous jewels.

Here are the biggest jewelry trends we predict you’ll spot on this year’s Oscars red carpet.

Pops of Turquoise

Bold, brightly colored gems such as turquoise make for an unforgettable red carpet look. Don’t believe us? Just check out these stunning turquoise drop earrings by Sutra Jewels, which were recently worn by “This Is Us” star Chrissy Metz.

Vintage-Inspired Jewels

The Roaring Twenties are back with a bang. The Gatsby era’s glitzy, light-hearted feel is reflected in these high-impact geometric designs. You can either pair your vintage-inspired pieces with an equally glamorous ensemble or let the jewels shine against a minimalist LBD.

Double Cuffs

Coco Chanel did it in the ‘30s and Diana Vreeland did it in the ‘60s. Now the trend of wearing identical cuff bracelets is back, led by Blake Lively in a pair of glowing, jewel-encrusted green cuffs at last month’s Golden Globes.

Statement Earrings

We think there are few looks more elegant than a pair of statement earrings worn against a bare neck. It’s the best way to instantly add a dose of style to a formal or cocktail look without going overboard.

Classic and timeless, pearls always make us think of style icon Audrey Hepburn. They’re so easy to wear, and they go with absolutely everything. Up the Audrey factor by pairing your pearls with a black sheath dress, some sleek pumps and an elegant updo.

Shop these and other red carpet styles at Eiseman Jewels at NorthPark Center in Dallas.

If you were born in June, your birthstone is the timeless, elegant pearl. Whether you loop them, layer them, dress them up or dress them down, you can never go wrong with pearls.

Here are a few of our favorite ways to style this classic gem.

new pearls

With a little black dress

Pearls and LBDs go together like ice cream and cake. Strapless dresses and pearl necklaces make an especially good match — the simple neckline of the dress won’t compete with the jewelry. Don’t be afraid to layer short, long and even choker necklaces with your black dress and pearls.

With an updo

A gorgeous pair of pearl earrings and a chic chignon have long been a go-to evening look for elegant, well-dressed women.

With a professional suit

Pearl earrings and a pearl ring pair beautifully with a pastel blouse and your favorite suit. Pointed-toe pumps finish off the look effortlessly. Similarly, a simple, long strand of pearls looks striking with any menswear-inspired ensemble.

With a wedding gown

Pearl hair accessories, earrings and necklaces are a timeless choice for brides to wear on their wedding day.

With jeans and a T-shirt

A long pearl necklace is the perfect piece to dress up any outfit — even a simple fitted tee and jeans. Wrap a strand of pearls around your neck several times to create a chunky choker look. Alternatively, you can hang a strand around your neck and tie a knot about halfway down.

With other necklaces

Wear long pearls with other necklaces of varying lengths. Try pairing them with silver or gold thin chains or pendants in all lengths. You could even wear four or five relatively simple necklaces at once for a funky layered look.

June birthstone- pearl

For those lucky enough to be born in June, the pearl is your birthstone. Pearls have come a long way since our grandmothers wore them. Today, there are a ton of varieties available—new colors, styles, and shapes—that have garnered a whole new generation of fans.

How a pearl becomes a pearl.

A natural pearl begins when a piece of shell or other foreign object accidentally lodges itself inside an oyster. The oyster then begins to secrete a smooth, hard crystalline substance called “nacre” around the irritant. Over time, layer upon layer, the irritant becomes completely encased, resulting in a beautiful, lustrous pearl.

Cultured pearls are created the same way as natural pearls (and today, most pearls today are cultured)—the only difference is that a person implants the irritant in the oyster, rather than leaving it to chance.

Ways to wear pearls.

A pearl necklace can be paired with gemstones, but understated, low-key designs are best; otherwise, the overall effect looks messy. Delicate diamond jewelry, for example, always looks beautiful with pearls. As for metals, it depends on the color and variety of pearls. In most cases, gold looks best with white, cream and yellow pearls. Try a gold bracelet or ring. For formal looks, coordinate pearls with other pearls.

Pearls add polish and sophistication to your professional wardrobe. This elegant multiple-strand look is perfect with a silk blouse and suit. But keep it simple—don’t wear more than one pearl accessory at a time.

Pearls and a pair of dark jeans make for a trendy and fashionable look. Have a little fun with your pearl jewelry and pair this necklace with your black (or dark) skinny jeans, a thin belt, killer heels and a flowing top.

Colored pearls help add your own personal taste to anything you wear. For weddings and more formal events, this pearl and diamond lariat will make you stand out in a sea of ordinary. After all, diamonds are a pearl’s best friend.

Fun facts about pearls.

According to Egyptian legend, Cleopatra made a bet with her lover Marc Antony that she was capable of spending 10 million sesterces (ancient Roman coins) over a single meal. To win the bet, she dissolved one of her pearl earrings in her cocktail and drank it.

Low-grade pearls can be crushed up into a fine shimmery translucent powder and used in make-up.

Similar to snowflakes, no two pearls are alike.

Pearls can take anywhere from a few months to a few years to form, depending on the water conditions and the size and type of mollusk.

Pearls have been known to symbolize fertility, loyalty and friendship.

Pearls get their coloring based partially on the inside of the shell they were grown in. Colors range from white to gold to purple to black.

pearlsYou don’t have to be Audrey Hepburn to perfect the look of pearls. Fashionable, feminine and fresh, these naturally formed beauties are making a comeback according to specialists at Eiseman Jewels, who have seen a rise in pearl jewelry sales for the first time in 10 years.

But the glamour of pearls is nothing new. Throughout history, the pearl has been one of the most highly prized and sought-after gems. Cleopatra wore them in ancient Egypt. They were considered the ultimate symbol of wealth way back when in Rome. The Greeks held the pearl in high esteem for both its unrivaled beauty and its association with love and marriage. And during the European expansion into the New World, the discovery of pearls in Central American waters added significantly to the wealth of Europe.

But shortly thereafter, the American pearl oyster populations were depleted until the early 1900s, making these illustrious gems only available to the wealthiest in the world.

Now, just as elegant but certainly more attainable, these gems are popping up at business lunches, Southern weddings and nights out on the town. There are many ways to wear these oyster-made gems, and we’ve listed some of our favorites below:

Studs. Simple, stylish and classy, pearl studs are the perfect accessory for a day-to-evening transformation. They can be worn casually to the office while looking just as glamorous when paired with your trust LBD. Pearl studs range in color, shape, and even number, as small pearl clusters are also a popular choice when looking for something timeless and tasteful.

Strands. The more, the merrier, we say! Multiple strands of pearls work well on necks of all kinds. From Queen Elizabeth to Jackie O. to Scarlet O’Hara, short stacks or long layers are always in style. In fact, one of our favorite bridal looks is a straight, strapless neckline with a doubled-over strand of pearls, accented with diamond or other colorful stones.

Drop Earrings. Bring drama to your earlobes with dynamic diamond and pearl drop earrings. Ideal for brides-to-be, droplet earrings add a refined, yet elegant feeling to match your gorgeous gown. The radiance of the pearls is illuminated by the shine of the diamonds, creating a flawless and stunning look that complements any bride’s vision—from contemporary to classic.
