Eiseman Q&A: VHERNIER

We sat down with VHERNIER to discuss their Italian-crafted pieces, and the famous French luxury brands they collaborated with to create rose gold and diamond handbags.

Tell us about the history of VHERNIER.

VHERNIER was established in 1984 in Valenza, Italy as a goldsmith workshop, sought after by insiders but virtually unknown to the general public. Carlo Traglio acquired the company in 2001 with the intention of developing its market and internationalizing the brand, while preserving its tradition-rich history. Shortly after Traglio stepped in, the company’s headquarters moved to Milan, a city known for fashion and luxury – a testament to the fact that VHERNIER would soon gain worldwide recognition.

Where do VHERNIER designers find inspiration?

The inspiration behind VHERNIER jewelry is often instantaneous, stemming from contemporary artwork, architecture or nature.

What’s one word you would use to describe VHERNIER?

Innovative.

Tell us more about the different types of jewelry in the VHERNIER collections.

VHERNIER uses various types of metals, woods and stones to create smooth, comfortable and wearable works of art. Only the most beautiful and pure materials will suffice. Rings are designed as sculptures in their own rights, with strong lines and harmonious contrasts between volume and visual subtlety. The pieces range from classic bold gold chains and rings to whimsical brooches and earrings.

Is there anything we can look forward to seeing soon from VHERNIER?

VHERNIER is recognized for its innovative creations and unexpected materials such as titanium and, more recently, aluminum. The brand is constantly developing new ways to craft jewelry and continues to unveil exciting new collections. New ways of using colored metals will be the next big thing for us.

What is something we may not know about VHERNIER?

VHERNIER was commissioned by Hermèsto createBirkin and Kelly bags in solid rose gold and diamonds.

Can you name a few of the most popular VHERNIER pieces?

The Abbraccio ring, the Calla necklace and the Vague earrings are some of the most iconic VHERNIER pieces.

Tell us more about the brand’s choice to produce VHERNIER pieces in Italy.

The company and its leaders all hail from Milan. Being Italian is a part of the brand’s DNA, so there was never a question that all VHERNIER pieces would be 100 percent designed and crafted in Italy. Valenza is home to some of the country’s premiere artisans and goldsmiths. Superior craftsmanship is signature to VHERNIER and in order to constantly maintain the highest standards, all production will remain in Valenza, Italy.
