UT Southwestern Medical Center is passionate about putting patients first. As one of the nation’s foremost academic medical centers, the institution integrates pioneering biomedical research with exceptional clinical care and best-in-class medical education. Committed to advancing medicine and science, we use those breakthroughs to deliver the latest treatments using innovative technologies. Our top-rated academic programs draw the brightest minds from around the world and are led by internationally renowned physicians and scientists, including six who have been awarded Nobel Prizes since 1985.
This is a time of phenomenal growth. For the sixth consecutive year, U.S. News & World Report has ranked UT Southwestern the No. 1 hospital in Dallas-Fort Worth. The Peter O’Donnell Jr. Brain Institute continues to strengthen its reputation as a global leader in brain science and an international destination for patients with brain diseases. As one of the world’s premier institutions for innovative cancer research, the Harold C. Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center offers leading-edge cancer treatments, lifesaving care, and support services for patients and their families.
Caring for communities is what we do best. Building on our leadership during a time of public health challenges across North Texas, the new Peter O’Donnell Jr. School of Public Health will welcome its first class of students next fall. We also continue to expand our network of outpatient medical centers to communities throughout the region, celebrating the opening of UT Southwestern Medical Center at RedBird in southern Dallas County. By bringing nationally ranked health care closer to where people live and work, we’re delivering on our commitment to serve our communities and continuing to put patients first.
Driven by our mission to promote health and a healthy society, we are the future of medicine, today.

Founded in 2014 by five-time Super Bowl champion Charles Haley and Dallas civic leader Bob Bowie, Tackle Tomorrow Foundation’s mission is to improve reading literacy among underprivileged students in South Dallas and Pleasant Grove.
Tackle Tomorrow Foundation partners with six DISD elementary schools and their surrounding communities in Dallas, Texas, including: Paul L. Dunbar Learning Center, Whitney M. Young Elementary, H.I. Holland at Lisbon Elementary, R.L. Thornton Elementary, Frederick Douglas Elementary, and Rufus C. Burleson Elementary.
If a child cannot read by third grade, there is a 70% chance they will end up in poverty or prison. Tackle Tomorrow Foundation serves over 1,500 students and provides partner schools with ISTATION reading software, reading coaches, technology equipment, such as educational software, new computers, tablets, and headphones, and teacher and student incentives. The Foundation also provides ESL and intro computer courses to help support the families of these children so that they may continue education efforts at home.
Over the holidays the Foundation provides meals for over 2,500 families and hosts annual book, bike and toy drives. In addition, it also hosts school BBQ’s to provide resources and increase parent engagement.
Tackle Tomorrow Foundation’s goal is to provide the right tools to empower and educate the communities it serves.
