Where is your favorite place to get inspiration for the new collections?

I am constantly evolving and creating. I don’t sit down and decide this grouping is my new collection for year X or season Y. It is a non-stop, ongoing process, and I strive to always let my style evolve.

I grew up in Istanbul, a vibrant ancient city spanning two continents, home to a myriad of cultures, civilizations, and religions; a place that captivates my soul and being with its magical beauty and contrasts. There is the ancient and modern mixed together, living sometimes in harmony and sometimes a cacophony. This pushes my buttons and allows me to imagine beauty in adornment. Perhaps this is the source of my penchant towards mixing the ancient with modern.

I am a child of the Mediterranean. I am captivated by the waters of this beautiful sea, hence the love of the colors blue green and turquoise. I have a voracious appetite to see the world. I crave the primitive, the ancient, and its simple aesthetic. Everywhere I travel, I am inspired.

Design for me is a constant urge; it is the need to solve a puzzle. Often, there is an amazing gemstone, a gold wire, a chunk of pure gold, or a silver nugget that talks to me, and gives me the urge to somehow morph these elements into a beautiful yet simple piece of wearable art. And when it paints a smile on the wearer, well then, it’s victory!

What is the importance of a family-owned business in 2022 and what value does it bring to the community?

Jewelry is personal. Therefore, knowing the face behind the name on the door is everything! It is very important to me to have my brand represented where there is a human whether through a charitable contribution or a friendly sales counter experience.
