From the very beginning, Ulysse Nardin timepieces have been remarkable for their innovation and prize-winning precision. Established in 1846 by its then-23-year-old namesake, Ulysse Nardin, the brand carries on both the name and the innovative, resourceful spirit of its founder to this very day.

Nardin was a man with a vision. He was convinced of two things: a rising demand for precision marine and pocket chronometers, and his ability to meet that demand. And he wasted no time striking out on his own after working as an apprentice to the leading Swiss watchmakers of the day.ulysse nardin

By the 1870s, over 50 navies and international shipping companies were equipped with Ulysse Nardin marine deck chronometers, providing sailors instruments for accuracy and efficiency across trades and continents. Ulysse Nardin’s navigational timepieces would come to set the standard for precision in both civil and military realms and establish his legacy for generations to come.   ulysse nardin

The company would go on to break 50 years of records for chronometer performances at the Neuchâtel Observatory (which rated accuracy in Swiss timepiece movements) and win more than 4,300 watchmaking awards, including 18 international gold medals. And in 1989, a Ulysse Nardin watch entered the Guinness Book of Records as the timepiece with the most functions following the launch of the Astrolabium Galileo Galilei watch.

The new millennium brought about the launch of the Freak, the revolutionary seven-day tourbillon-carousel with no true case, crown or hands. Its movement pivots on itself to indicate time — a first in watchmaking. This penchant for technology and innovation goes back to the company’s inception and has made Ulysse Nardin a legendary figure in Swiss watchmaking.ulysse nardin
